Nykomb Synergetics is an early stage investor. The preferred investment range is between SEK 1 million - SEK 15 million, but we can also structure larger investments. As we have a passion for and understanding of renewable energy and energy efficiency technology, we focus on investments and developments within this niche. All partners in Nykomb Synergetics have an entrepreneurial background and actively support the portfolio companies with operational and strategic knowledge as well as with technical and financial expertise. We differ from traditional venture capitalists in that, in addition to financial support, we also bring hands-on technical, day-to-day expertise. Our current portfolio consists of Chemrec, HyHeat and Windau.

Chemrec develops and commercialises technology for converting pulp mills to biorefineries for
highly efficient co-production of pulp and renewable fuels or electricity, based on black liquor gasification. A development plant is in operation in Piteå, Sweden and a commercial plant
based on earlier generation technology is in commercial operation in New Bern, North Carolina,
USA. Chemrec is jointly owned by Nykomb Synergetics, Volvo Technology Transfer and
VantagePoint Venture Partners.

HyHeat is a Swedish innovative technology developer within the combined heat & power as well as the forest industries. HyHeat's technology focuses on heat recovery from flue gas and industrial gas streams. With engineering expertise, HyHeat develops advanced integration schemes, as well as absorption heat pumps based on hygroscopic absorbents.

Windau is a cogeneration plant operator in Latvia, established in 1996. In 1998, Windau installed a highly efficient gas engine CHP plant in Bauska and is now a well-recognised electricity producer in Latvia. From this position, Windau intends to grow by developing new projects in the energy field and using state-of-the-art technologies for improved environmental performance and economic growth in the Baltic region.
